TheraSuit Method®

The TheraSuit Method® is an intense, specific, and individualized strengthening program focused on improving a child’s functional movement patterns. The tailored intensive strengthening program utilizes a combination of pulleys and spider in the Universal Exercise Unit as well as wearing a soft dynamic proprioceptive orthotic, called the TheraSuit®. The TheraSuit® is made of a vest, shorts, knees, and shoe attachments in which bungees are attached to mimic muscle attachments to provide proper body alignment. The TheraSuit® Method is a tool directed to accelerate the functional progress of a child.

Nutrition is also an integral part of a child’s success during TheraSuit Method. Specifically, nutrition contributes to 50% of their progress as it aides the synapses responsible for making changes in the brain. Therefore, our TheraSuit team at PTS, will help guide parents with suggestions for proper nutrition to optimize your child’s potential.

During the final days of the intensive strengthening program, our highly trained occupational and physical therapists will provide parents with a thorough and extensive home exercise program including hands-on instruction based on your child’s goals. This will allow your child to continue to practice their improved movement patterns or skills at home. Your child can participate in the intensive strengthening program every three months to further boost their functional progress.

Through Therasuit®, she is constantly able to rapidly achieve the milestones that come so naturally to ‘healthy’ kids. This time her running has become more controlled and natural. Previously, I never new core strength had such an impact on eating, swallowing, and so many other normal behaviors.

I’m so in love with PTS, I’m hesitant to tell others how wonderful it is, so I don’t lose my spots!!

Anthony is 9 years old and has Cerebral Palsy.  He is non- ambulatory and non verbal.  Anthony must rely on others for all of his needs.  We want to give Anthony all available opportunities to grow and become as independent as possible.  Anthony has participated in the TheraSuit method for the last 2 years.  During that time, we have seen a tremendous increase in his strength, confidence, and communication.  In the beginning, Anthony had difficulty with the level of work required during TheraSuit, however, once he became familiar with the process he put in the work and his strides forward became evident.  When Anthony is physically engaged in therapy, his vocalizations increase and he becomes more focused on the task.  The gains he made during the few weeks of TheraSuit have carried over to home and school and even now 8 months later, he is still showing an increase in strength and stability.  His teachers have noticed the changes at school and our family members have commented on how much stronger and attentive Anthony has become.  If given the opportunity, we will continue to be a part of the TheraSuit program.

My daughters name is Rachael, she was born 3 months pre mature, as u can imaging Rachael couldn’t do very much for herself, with therapy she has improved but it’s a slow process, however with intensive therapy specific activities were targeted to help with everyday movements, after the second suit Rachael can bridge to change her, she can Stan up with minimal assistance and turn around in her walker all by herself, she can now side her walk and climb the 3 stairs to get on her bed with minimal assistance, we are in our third secession of Thera suit and I am excited by the progress she is showing already.
